Meet Dr. Aghayan

Board-certified plastic surgeon Portland Dr. Aric Aghayan is proud to serve Portland area patients at his practice, Après Plastic Surgery. Dr. Aghayan completed his formal education at the University of Missouri and an eight-year general and plastic surgery training program at Oregon Health & Science University.

In addition to his medical internships and residencies, Dr. Aghayan spent many years as a medical officer in the Navy. These years of training and experience allow Dr. Aghayan to seamlessly blend science and art for beautiful, natural-looking results, whether he is performing cosmetic surgery procedures like breast augmentation, liposuction or tummy tuck or a nonsurgical aesthetic treatment. Outside of work, Dr. Aghayan spends as much time as possible with his family, whether they are playing snow sports, enjoying outdoor activities in beautiful Oregon, or traveling to new places.

Dr. Aghayan earned both his undergraduate and medical doctorate degrees from the University of Missouri in Kansas City. He then completed an internship in general surgery at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, MD. He spent the next three years as a medical officer in the Navy before performing a second internship in general surgery at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) in Portland. He completed his formal training with a residency in general surgery followed by a second residency in plastic surgery at OHSU. To further his knowledge of cosmetic procedures, Dr. Aghayan attends professional education seminars, like those offered at the Advanced Body Sculpting Institute and CoolSculpting University.

Military Service

Dr. Aghayan is proud to have served as a general medical officer in the United States Navy after his time in medical school. He worked as an assistant battalion surgeon in Iraq and then a battalion surgeon in Afghanistan. During his time in the Navy, Dr. Aghayan earned the Navy Commendation Medal, Navy Achievement Medal, and a Combat Action Ribbon. His training and experience in the military have helped him understand the importance of reconstructive and plastic surgery in repairing not only the physical function of the body but also restoring the confidence of wounded soldiers.

Medical Privileges

While Dr. Aghayan also offers many nonsurgical procedures that can be performed in his office, he performs plastic surgery requiring general anesthesia in the safety of accredited hospitals and surgical facilities. For his patients’ convenience, he has full medical privileges at multiple locations in the Portland area — Pearl Surgicenter, and Providence St. Vincent Medical Center.
