This cosmetic treatment is a popular procedure for both men and women for its ability to be customized and have quick results with little downtime. Located in Portland, OR, Après Plastic Surgery helps individuals seeking injectable fillers to help them turn back the hands of time. Read below for more information about the different types of fillers available.

How do dermal fillers work?

Dermal fillers are gel-like substances that are injected under the skin. They can address a variety of everyday concerns such as under-eye circles, lifting cheekbones, plumping lips, and smoothing lines and folds. Cosmetic fillers are composed of a variety of substances, some naturally occurring and some synthetic. One of the most common ingredients is hyaluronic acid (HA). Sometimes referred to as "nature’s moisturizer," it is responsible for keeping the joints lubricated and the skin hydrated and volumized. Other fillers are made of polylactic acid, a synthetic, biodegradable material that has been used for other skin-related applications. Dermal fillers are typically better known by their brand names Juvéderm®, Restylane®, and Radiesse® are some of the options offered by the board-certified plastic surgeons at Après Plastic Surgery.

Am I a candidate for dermal fillers?

Dermal fillers are an excellent option for men and women in the Portland area who are in good general health and want to address issues such as fine lines, Crow's feet, smile and frown lines, marionette lines, nasolabial folds, and more. Fillers can also replenish lost volume in the lips, cheeks, and hands. During your consultation, your medical history will be reviewed, including any medications or supplements you may be taking. To understand which fillers will improve your appearance and where they should be placed, you may be asked to make a few facial expressions such as smiling or frowning.

All of our facial filler options are approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the safe and effective treatment of facial lines, wrinkles, and contours. Prior to treatment, it is important to disclose any allergies or health conditions to your injector. While we do not suggest dermal fillers for pregnant or breastfeeding women, the talented team at Après Plastic Surgery can recommend alternative skin care treatments to rejuvenate your face.
